Tickets SELL OUT for Grand Opening in 24 hours for Pittston Station!
Sales for Inaugural Run Stun RBMN Staff
Reading Blue Mountain & Northern (RBMN) Passenger was confident that bringing rail services to the greater Wyoming Valley would create a regional buzz. But, the cacophony of voices interested in taking a trip from RBMN’s Northern rail line to the bustling town of Jim Thorpe was deafening. In mere hours, enthusiastic rail seekers descended upon the companies’ websites and phone lines much to the excitement of the Passenger staff members and management team.
According to Russ Scianna Jr., RBMN’s Passenger Office Manager…
“Tickets for train excursions from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Railroad Station at Pittston to Jim Thorpe went on sale online and via telephone at 9:00am on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Within an hour, the initial offerings for the inaugural May 27th trip sold out; however, demand was that great that we increased capacity on the trip multiple times to accommodate eager customers. As of right now, all tickets are sold for the first run. Subsequent weekend dates into June have sold out or are close to selling out as well. We are thrilled to see what a hit this has been already.”
- The new station, located at 718 N. Main Street of Pittston PA, is developing rapidly -
After careful deliberation, RBMN staff committed on a design that will treat riders with classical style and modern sensibilities. Without giving away too many spoilers, we will simply direct you to our ticket office. That way, you can board our trains with fresh eyes and see for yourself why the RBMN Passenger department is one of the most prized and highly rated train experiences that the East Coast has to offer.
In addition to the standard white-glove service riders will enjoy, this is the first-time passengers will see a uniquely scenic side of the rail-line that is usually reserved for maintenance of way (MOW) and train crew staff. Trips out of the Pittston location will navigate through beautiful wilderness, countryside vistas, and the Northern valley of the Lehigh Gorge State Park.
